Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station New Build

2015 – Ongoing

Hinkley Point C is the largest construction site in Europe, with two new nuclear reactors being built – the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low-carbon electricity for around six million homes. Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UK’s move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year over its 60-year lifespan.

Geckoella were contracted by Kier Bam to provide Geological Clerk of Work services (Lead Palaeontologist) in relation to the fossil interest of the site. Dr Andy King is on-site watching for significant fossil finds during excavations and earth moving works.
