Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology

Ongoing

Geckoella is involved in the current revision of Part K of the Treatise of Invertebrate Paleontology, an international collaboration led by the University of Kansas. Andy King is the Lead Coordinator for the Project which investigates and documents the evolution, taxonomy and biostratigraphy of all recorded genera of nautiloids extending from the earliest fossil cephalopods (nearly 600 million years old) to modern Nautilus and Allonautilus that occur today in the Indo-Pacific oceanic region. The project involves working closely alongside numerous nautiloid and cephalopod specialists from a wide range of academic institutions and university departments, major Natural History museums and geological surveys. This is a long term project but when completed will have lasting relevance to many palaeontologists, zoologists and marine biologists – and anyone else interested in this fascinating group of marine animals!
