Ecologist support for Balfour Beatty tunnel examinations

Ongoing

Geckoella is proud to provide Site Ecologist services for Balfour Beatty to support their examining engineers who carry out regular assessments on disused tunnels, bridges and other associated structures. These places are often home to bats – and of course, all UK bat species and their roosts are protected by law.

We accompany the engineers throughout the examination process and provide live advice and guidance about how to avoid the risk of disturbance or harm to bats at the areas they need to illuminate, prod or knock. We also advise the ongoing management of the structure, such as work methods and seasonal timing.
Occasionally we have to come up with special survey methods such as wireless infrared cameras!

Geckoella surveyors who undertake this work are licensed bat ecologists and hold safety qualifications such as a Confined Spaces Awareness certificate (as a minimum).

Geckoella can offer Site Ecologist support at sites where Protected Species are present (such as for utility company, rail, highways, or facilities maintenance) or Ecological Clerks of Works services at construction sites, or we can carry out ecology surveys at any locations with Confined Spaces. Please contact us to discuss how Geckoella can help.
