Botanical Training brings a Flurry of FISC Accreditations

It was a Happy Christmas 2023 for Geckoella’s surveyors as they all received some lovely Christmas cards from the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland!

Every ecologist in Geckoella took the test in 2023, and all passed accredition standard for FISC 3 or above – which means all are competent for habitat and plant species surveys for UKHabs for Preliminary Ecological Assessments and we also have FISC 5 level botanists capable of more technical surveys including National Vegetation Classification.

Well done Josh Butterworth, our Senior Ecologist, who steered the team through our botanical training sessions in 2023, and to the whole team who worked really hard to learn those plants and develop their skills. Just in time for mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain too, and we already have some cracking botanical surveys lined up for 2024, including some large-scale habitat surveys to support and evaluate nature recovery projects.
