Geckoella Ecologists Sophie and Vanessa recently completed a 10-week skills bootcamp at the University of the West of England (UWE). The course focused on urban biodiversity, green infrastructure, and nature-based solutions, enhancing their understanding of how to achieve Biodiversity Net Gain and provide essential ecosystem services to communities.

The course explored a range of topics and highlighted the need for well-thought out biodiversity enhancements in urban environments. It also allowed collaboration with other professionals to share innovative ideas with an aim of ensuring urban development actively promotes richer, more resilient, and accessible urban ecosystems for the benefit of nature and the community.

We would like to thank UWE for offering this invaluable course as well as our lecturers, Danielle Sinnett and Heather Rumble, all guest speakers, and our fellow course members for sharing their knowledge and insightful contributions. We look forward to applying the knowledge gained from this course into our future work.
