Geckoella is proud to announce its transition to employee ownership, marking this significant milestone on national EO Day, Friday, 20th June 2025 with a celebration in their workshop at East Quay, Watchet.

Employee ownership is the UK’s fastest-growing business model, doubling since 2022. The eoa, organising EO Day, aims for 3% UK business ownership by 2030. This year’s EO Day theme, “The Power of the EO Smile,” highlights how employee ownership boosts working lives, livelihoods, and opportunities. Empowered employees, invested in the business, foster an owner’s mindset, driving productivity, innovation, and positive community/environmental impacts.
Geckoella will continue to provide expert ecological and geological advice to both private and public sectors, finding solutions that drive growth while benefiting the environment and communities. Statistics on EO:
- The UK’s EO sector now includes around 2,470 businesses, employing approximately 358,000 people.
- In 2025 alone, 118 businesses have transitioned up to May following a record 560 transitions in 2024.
- Since 2014, the sector has surged by 1,640%, driven largely by small businesses, which make up 65% of the EO total.
